An extraordinary example of Retro Era jewelry is this amethyst festoon necklace made of 9 carat gold.  Likely of British origin, this fabulous necklace is adorned with three oval cabachon amethysts and two pear shape amethyst drops.  A true showpiece, this is an authentic 1940s piece of expertly crafted jewelry.  There are two flower shape stations with a center single diamond.  It is stamped '375' for gold content on the reverse side of the largest amethyst gemstone frame.  Two more diamonds adorn the ball ornaments of the drops.  A newer 14K (stamped 14K) gold spring clasp was added to the necklace so it does not have the original clasp.  This necklace has .04 ctw of natural diamonds and is 18 inches long with an adjustment to 17 inches.  Drape this on your neck and be prepared for the  many compliments coming your way!
